Petpooja vs Ecomeal: Which Restaurant Software Fits Your Needs?

One is India's well-known all-rounder. One is a young POS that writes its own deals. Here's a fair fight, refereed by the younger one (we'll keep the referee honest).

The short answer

Choose Petpooja if you need a mature system with Swiggy and Zomato integration, deep inventory and a large partner ecosystem today. Choose Ecomeal if you run an independent restaurant, café or small chain, want AI that actively suggests deals for slow dishes, and want a clear published price of ₹333 a month + GST billed yearly. Ecomeal doesn't yet integrate delivery apps or offer ingredient-level inventory, so delivery-heavy kitchens should weigh that.

We make Ecomeal. Petpooja is one of the most established restaurant POS products in India. This page compares them on the same criteria, uses only Petpooja's public information, and says plainly where Petpooja is ahead. Facts checked on 15 October 2026.

Where Petpooja is stronger

Let's start with the honest part, because otherwise you'd stop reading.

  • Integrations. Petpooja's base plan, per an independent review, includes Swiggy and Zomato integration, and its ecosystem covers payments, Tally and more. Ecomeal doesn't integrate delivery apps yet.
  • Inventory. Petpooja has an inventory module and a central kitchen module. Ecomeal's ingredient-level inventory, Wastello, is still being built.
  • Scale and track record. Petpooja cites over 1,00,000 restaurants. That means more trained staff in the market, more answered questions online, and more vendors who already know it.
  • Breadth of add-ons. Captain app, kiosk, reservations, restaurant website, marketing tools: there's a module for most things.

If you're a cloud kitchen doing 70% of orders on aggregators, Petpooja (or another integrated system) is the practical choice today.

Where Ecomeal is stronger

AI that acts, not just reports

Petpooja gives you 80+ reports. That's a lot of reading. Ecomeal's approach is to read them for you.

Every afternoon around 2 pm, AI Up Sell looks at the last seven days of sales for every dish, finds the ones that aren't moving, writes a discount or combo for each with the reason in plain words, and puts it live on your POS. Staff see an "AI Deal" tag the moment they bill. Deals end at 10 pm by themselves. You can regenerate the set or close a deal early.

AI Menu Insights on the dashboard tells you your best seller, your peak hour and one thing to do today.

The difference in one sentence

A report says "Dal makhani sales down 34% week-on-week." Ecomeal says "Dal makhani + 2 butter naan for ₹249 until 10 pm. It's on the POS already." One of these needs you to have a free hour.

A price you can see

Ecomeal Lite costs ₹500 a month + GST, or ₹333 a month + GST billed yearly (₹3,999 + GST per year). It's on our home page. Petpooja's pricing page lists plans and asks you to contact them for local rates. An independent review reported a base price of ₹12,000 + GST with add-ons from ₹20,000 to ₹40,000. Your actual quote may differ, so ask for it in writing.

Customer segments out of the box

Ecomeal's customer screen shows repeat rate, average spend and loyalty tiers from Standard to Platinum, and lets you pull up new, VIP, at-risk and inactive guests in one tap. Petpooja also has an in-built CRM, with deeper loyalty and marketing modules available.

Simplicity

Ecomeal is designed so a new cashier is billing in minutes: veg, egg and non-veg filters, Best and AI Deal tags, suggested combos inside the bill, hold and charge. Fewer menus, fewer modules, fewer "where is that setting" moments.

Pricing compared

Petpooja Ecomeal
Published on website Plan names and features; rates on request Yes
Entry price Independent review: ₹12,000 + GST base ₹3,999 + GST per year (₹333/month)
Monthly option Monthly billing toggle shown ₹500/month + GST
Add-ons Operations and marketing add-ons reported at ₹20,000-₹40,000 None at present

Pricing for both should be confirmed directly before you decide. For Petpooja, ask for your outlet's itemised yearly quote.

Which one should you choose?

If you... Choose
Get most orders from Swiggy and Zomato Petpooja
Need recipe-level inventory from day one Petpooja
Run a large chain with central kitchens Petpooja
Run a café, casual dine-in or small chain and want to sell more Ecomeal

Switching from Petpooja to Ecomeal

If you're thinking of moving, plan for three things:

  1. Export your data first: menu, customers and sales history.
  2. Run both for a few days if you can, so staff learn without pressure.
  3. Check your delivery workflow: since Ecomeal doesn't take aggregator orders yet, you'll need to keep those on their tablets for now.

Book a demo on WhatsApp and we'll show you Ecomeal on your own menu, and tell you honestly if it's not the right fit yet.

A day with each, in practice

Lunch rush

Petpooja: multi-terminal billing, captain app and KDS (in its feature list; check which plan) keep a busy floor moving. Swiggy and Zomato orders land in the same system.

Ecomeal: fast billing with veg, egg and non-veg filters, holds and suggested combos. KOTs print and every order is tracked from Created to Paid. Aggregator orders still come in on their own tablets.

The 3 pm slump

Petpooja: reports will show you which dishes are slow, once you look.

Ecomeal: by around 2 pm, AI Up Sell has already found the slow dishes from the last seven days, written a deal for each, and put it live on the POS with an "AI Deal" tag. Staff see it while billing the first afternoon guest.

Closing time

Petpooja: 80+ reports, inventory and stock counts if you use the inventory module.

Ecomeal: dashboard with sales, orders and average bill against the same time yesterday, revenue by daypart and channel, dish of the week, and AI Menu Insights for tomorrow. No ingredient-level inventory yet.

Questions to ask both vendors

Question Why
What's my exact yearly price, including GST, add-ons and hardware? Sticker prices hide add-ons
Which features are in my plan, not just "available"? Feature lists and plan contents differ
Show me billing with the internet off. Rush-hour resilience
How do I export my data if I leave? Your customers are yours
Who answers support at 10 pm on a Saturday? That's when things break
What's live today, and what's on the roadmap? Avoid buying promises

We'll answer every one of these for Ecomeal in a demo, including the ones where the answer is "not yet."

Can you use both?

Some owners do. A common pattern for multi-outlet operators is to keep a mature system for aggregator-heavy outlets and trial Ecomeal at a dine-in or café outlet to see whether AI Up Sell lifts sales on slow dishes. At ₹333/month + GST billed yearly, the trial cost is small. Measure it: compare the slow dishes' sales for four weeks before and four weeks after.

Frequently asked questions

Is Ecomeal cheaper than Petpooja?

Ecomeal's published price is ₹3,999 + GST per year (₹333/month). An independent review reported Petpooja's base plan at ₹12,000 + GST, with add-ons extra. Get Petpooja's current quote for your outlet to compare exactly.

Does Ecomeal integrate with Swiggy and Zomato?

Not yet. Delivery-app orders aren't currently pulled into Ecomeal.

Does Petpooja have AI features?

An independent review lists an "AI agent" in Petpooja's base plan and an AI marketing agent in its marketing add-on. Ecomeal's AI is focused on writing and running daily deals for slow-selling dishes and giving daily menu insights.

Can I use Ecomeal for multiple outlets?

Yes. Ecomeal has a multi-outlet group view with revenue, orders, status and open/close history for each outlet.

Which is better for a café?

For a café that wants fast billing, a synced QR menu and help selling slow items, Ecomeal is a strong fit at a lower published price. If the café relies heavily on delivery apps, Petpooja's integrations matter more.
