01Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Ecomeal Technologies Private Limited ("Ecomeal", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal data when you visit ecomeal.in or use the Ecomeal software and services (the "Services"). We follow the Information Technology Act, 2000 and its rules, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 as it applies.

02Data we collect

When you visit our website

  • Our website does not use advertising or analytics cookies, and it has no sign-up forms.
  • Your browser stores a few preferences on your device, such as whether birdsong is on and whether to skip the intro animation. These stay on your device and are not sent to us.
  • Our hosting provider and the font and script providers we load (Google Fonts, cdnjs, jsDelivr) may log technical data such as your IP address and browser type, as any website request does.

When you contact us

  • Your name, phone number, email and the contents of your message when you write to us by email or WhatsApp, or book a demo.

When you use Ecomeal (customers)

  • Account data: owner and staff names, phone numbers, emails, roles and login details.
  • Business data: business name, outlet addresses, GSTIN, menus, prices, orders, bills, sales and payment-mode records.
  • Your guests' data: details your staff enter about your guests, such as name, phone number, visits and spend for loyalty.
  • Billing data: subscription and invoice details. Payments are processed by our payment partners; we do not store full card or bank details.
  • Usage and device data: logs of how the Services are used, needed for security, support and troubleshooting.

03How we use data

  • To provide, operate and secure the Services, including generating AI Up Sell deals and AI Menu Insights from your sales data.
  • To process subscriptions, payments and invoices.
  • To respond to enquiries, provide demos and support.
  • To send service messages, such as billing, security and important product updates.
  • To improve the Services, using aggregated or de-identified data where possible.
  • To meet legal, tax and regulatory obligations.

We do not sell personal data.

04Your guests' data

When a restaurant enters its guests' details into Ecomeal, the restaurant decides why and how that data is used, and Ecomeal processes it on the restaurant's behalf to provide the Services. Guests who want to access, correct or delete their data should contact the restaurant; we will help the restaurant respond.

05Sharing

We share personal data only as needed with:

  • Service providers who help us run the Services under contract, such as cloud hosting, payment processing, messaging (including WhatsApp business messaging) and AI model providers used to power AI features;
  • Professional advisers such as auditors and lawyers;
  • Authorities where required by law, or to protect rights and safety;
  • a successor in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, under the same protections.

06Storage and security

We use reasonable security practices, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls and restricted staff access, to protect data. Data may be stored and processed on servers of reputable cloud providers, which may be located in or outside India, with appropriate safeguards. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you and the authorities as required by law.

07Retention

We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services, then delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period, except where the law requires us to keep records (for example, tax and accounting records).

08Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you can ask to access, correct, update or delete your personal data, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and nominate someone to exercise your rights. Write to our Grievance Officer below. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

09Children

The Services are meant for businesses and are not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect children's personal data.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. We will post the new version here with a new "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify customers by email or in the app.
